Bungy Walking!
The Capilano Suspension Bridge is Vancouver's oldest visitor attraction. Originally built in 1889, today's bridge is the 4th
bridge at this location, 450 feet (140 meters) across and 230 feet (70meters) above Vancouver’s spectacular Capilano River.
But don't worry, even though it sways and creaks, it's very, very strong. Strong enough to support the weight of ten heavy-duty military fighter planes. Strong enough to handle the 850,000 visitors each year. Even strong enough to handle a classroom full of kindergarten students!
Walking across the Bridge, you will cross over Capilano River and enter our spectacular "wild side" which features our Living Forest display.
The Story Centre brings visitors face to face with the pioneers who shaped the history of Capilano and Vancouver through life-sized photomurals, artifacts, flip-books and voices from the past.
A colourful Totem Park displays over 25 authentic totem poles collected since the 1930's.
The West Coast rain forest offers meandering trails by tranquil trout ponds and towering old growth evergreens. The Living Forest interactive display offers tree identification clues and fun facts on the flora and fauna of a West Coast rain forest. The giant panels of the Naturalist's Notebook illustrate pond and forest life.
The Big House native carving centre features native carvers at work, demonstrating techniques and sharing their heritage.
Friendly turn of the century costumed Tour Greeters and Guides provide complimentary Park tours May to October.
Dr. Wood's Nature Walks are offered May to October.
Daily entertainment is offered in the summer months. Performers include the North Wind Dancers (native songs and dances) and the Canyon Echo (tour guides singing old-time
favourites).
The historic Trading Post Gift Store offers quality and selection! Native carvings,
jewellery, leather footwear, unique Canadian food products, books and CDs, T shirts and gift items, plus selected imports such as Polo Ralph Lauren are included in Western Canada's finest gift store.
