Stayed at the Opus hotel last night and was looking forward to the stay
as the Website shows a very trendy hotel. The front desk staff and the
valet attendant were excellent, we even had a glass of complimentary
bubbly at check in. However when we came into the room we were very
disappointed. The doorway to the washroom was dirty the walls were not
not cleaned very well, and the headboard on the bed had evidence of some
prior romantic nights. We really did not want to stay the night but it
was to late to move. In the morning I decided to check out using the
remote and decided against it once I saw how filthy the remote was. The
service was excellent but the cleanliness was terrible. I can think of
many other hotels to stay in while in Vancouver and will not be
returning.

The Opus Hotel Vancouver has a reputation for being glamorous and
'sexy'. Its slightly date bordello foyer/bar resplendent in pink and
purple brocade reinforces the perceived reputation of sauciness. This is
far from the truth. During my stay couples, families, grandparents, kids
and dogs exited the purple lit lifts. Most looked more city than suburbs
but none the less - it's a hotel for anyone who wants to stay smack bang
in the middle of some great restaurants and bars. The rooms are very
comfortable and nice touches like different type of candy on your pillow
every night were lovely surprises. The rooms are slightly dated - lime
green walls and primary colour suede furnishings date it at around 2002
but these should be overlooked because the beds are comfortable and the
service friendly. Be prepared to push your way passed crowds on the
street on the weekend when the foyer become a popular bar and event
space.

Great rooms, comfortable beds, staff who knows you - and a wonderful
location for getting around VCR - next to the light rail and all. I've
stayed many times and have a uniformly great stay each time. The Opus
Hotel Vancouver is my favorite hotel - and not just for Vancouver - but
for all around hotels anywhere!

Loved staying at the Opus. The hotel is fun and the staff is friendly
and helpful.
The cons - it's an energetic fun hotel but if you want something quiet
and peaceful this is not the place for you. I traveled with a friend and
we stayed in a Superior Deluxe which I believe is their entry level
room. With the way the bathrooms are set-up, the shoji screen provided
very little privacy. So wouldn't recommend for people who are shy.
Otherwise great hotel and would definitely stay again.

I've stayed at the Opus Hotel in Vancouver on several occasions (at
least 5-6 for weeks at a time), and I can honestly say I've never been
disappointed. A classy boutique style hotel, amazing location, and top
notch customer service, Opus is truly one of my favourite hotels in all
of Canada. Great turn down service at night and attention to detail. Not
to mention great bath products from L'Occitane. I will definitely be
back very shortly! |
